Abstract | Pharmaceutical substances that accumulate in the water cycle can pose a lasting risk to animals and potentially even humans. This article outlines how pharmaceutical law and specific areas of environmental law (chemical, water and agricultural law) deal with this threat. It is shown that these laws fail to provide effective protection and, therefore, legal and socio-political strategies are proposed on how to better control and reduce the environmental risks posed by pharmaceuticals. |
