Products of the PLUREL project

XPLORER – Everything at your fingertips

xplorer

With the XPLORER one can access all results and tools from the PLUREL project via internet. It also serves as the single portal to the data management system, to iIAT, and to MOLAND-Light. The XPLORER is accessible through the project homepage (http://www.plurel.net/XPLORER-110.aspx).

integrated Impact Analysis Tool (iIAT) – Regions in comparison

iiat

The “integrated Impact Analysis Tool” (iIAT) summarises the evaluation of future land use scenarios using indicators. The iIAT allows for a quick visual comparison of land use change and its impacts through the use of radar charts. Users can select regions as well as indicators and scenarios for a cross-comparison.

The iIAT comprises two spatial levels: the Eruopean level (iIAT-EU) consists of indicators for each European urban-rural region, while the iIAT Region consists of indicators for the more detailed case study regions. The different regions’ and scenarios’ distinct indicators were calculated by a team of PLUREL project researchers.

The iIAT is available via the project homepage (http://www.plurel.net/Default.aspx?id=111).

MOLAND-Light – Software for your own scenario

moland

MOLAND-Light allows users to examine possible changes in land use for each urban-rural region in Eruope, including the Leipzig-Halle case study region, according to their own scenarios. Such scenarios could, for example, be used as the basis for discussions on future development in a given region.

MOLAND-Light is a simplified version of the simulation program MOLAND, which is used by the European Union to calculate future land use changes. The software is based on land use data and general statistics from across Europe. Users can generate scenarios based on specific land use developments, as well as population and employment.

MOLAND-Light is available via the project homepage (http://www.plurel.net/Default.aspx?id=114).

The Book – Learning from the case studies

book

The book on peri-urban development in Europe summarises the results of the six case studies in the PLUREL project. It presents the particular challenges and opportunities regarding land use change, as well as strategies to guide it. The book aids in comparing the case studies and presents the opportunity to learn from their experiences. Its completion is expected at the end of 2011.
