| Abstract | This contribution summarises the results of a comparison of scientific studies on the implementation of the concept of sustainable development. The analysis was focused on studies and concepts playing a central role in the German debate on sustainability. They were evaluated and systematically compared using a system of categories in order to determine common aspects and differences with regard to their normative starting point, methodological approach, suggested goals and implementation strategies, as well as the problems involved. On the one hand, this comparison should help to integrate the project carried out by the Hermann von Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres (HGF) into the current debate. On the other hand, it should provide the input for the integrative approach to be developed in the preliminary study of the HGF project. |
