| Abstract | Based on theoretical approaches towards housing market transition in post-socialist countries, the article analyses change and persistency in the Czech housing sector in the 1990s. The main focus is on housing policies, privatisation strategies, the segmentation of the market, old and new ownership structures and the relationship between demand and supply. It is argued that despite the public perception of the country as belonging to the rental model, profound changes are under way, so that the housing sector is moving closer to the dualist model (Kemeny) where public housing is marginalised and owner-occupancy becomes widespread. |
