| Abstract | The Citizen Science-project “Butterfly Monitoring Germany - TMD” is running for 16 years, now. The basis of the TMD are volunteer transect walkers who count butterflies along a defined route. The scheme’s success depends on the number of the participating volunteers and the effort they take by spending their free time collecting butterfly data all over Germany. While the benefits of such projects for science and public and private stakeholders are well understood, relatively little is known about the benefits participants get from these projects as well as their personal backgrounds and motivations. Furthermore, very little is known about their expectations. In this talk, we present the results of a questionnaire sent out to all participants of the TMD in 2019. |
