Abstract | In the South Siberian Kulunda steppe intensive wheat Cultivation is operated under central continental Climate conditions with low and highly variable rainfall. The previously used processing technique resulted in severe erosion damage and harvest decline. The Kulunda project aims to preserve the farming in this semiarid region, and to sequester carbon in the soil. The article focuses on the installation of a soil hydrological monitoring network, and the presentation Of first results as a prerequisite for the establishment of environmentally friendly farming practices. |
