Economical analysis and implementation of conservation methods
Research in this field deals with measures for improving existing (political and economical) tools for conservation. In terms of existing tools we work in several projects on the enhancement of cost efficiency, e.g. of conservation programmes and agri-environmental schemes.

An ecological-economical modelling technique was developed for two FFH-species (Maculinea nausithous and Maculinea teleius.

In this context an ecological-economical modelling technique was developed for two FFH-species (Maculinea nausithous and Maculinea teleius), which can determine cost-efficient compensation payments for species conservation measures. Another project focuses on the enhancement of political nature conservation tools: Can conservation indicators be integrated in intergovernmental fiscal transfers? In yet another just recently started project scientists pose the question: Which possibilities and limits are there for applying the tool of tradable permits – as for example used in climate protection – for nature conservation?
