Prof. Dr. Jörg Hackermüller
He is a chemist and Head of the Department of Computational Biology & Chemistry at the UFZ location in Leipzig, Germany. His research focuses on the development of bioinformatic methods for omics data analysis and integration, non-coding RNAs in disease and toxicity, drug discovery, and as biomarkers, using omics data in chemical risk assessment and for understanding mechanisms of toxicity, environmental epigenetics, developing artificial intelligence approaches for toxicological problems and investigating the potential of single-cell omics in toxicology and environmental health.
In 2011, he took over the Helmholtz University Young Investigators Group "Bioinformatics & Transcriptomics" - which was linked to the UFZ Department of Molecular Systems Biology and the Institute of Informatics at the University of Leipzig. On 1 November 2021, Jörg Hackermüller was jointly appointed by the University of Leipzig and the UFZ to the professorship "Integrative Bioinformatics - Computational Biology".
