IP1 - Sustainable Future Land Use

We cordially invite you to register for the next retreat of IP1 Sustainable Future Land Use. The main objectives of the meeting are to refresh and further strengthen the contents of the IP and the cooperation in the IP and beyond. There will therefore be plenty of time to get to know each other and exchange scientific ideas. Also to develop and establish ideas for potential dynamic IP1 projects.
In addition, a new IP speaker team will be elected and the new IP1 governance will be briefly introduced.

Please, take the opportunity to get to know and shape IP1 research.

Introduction

Food systems are responsible for a third of global anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. As the global population grows, so too will the demand for food and, with it, GHG emissions, unless there are substantial changes in global food systems. Improving agricultural efficiency is paramount in mitigating climate change. Traditionally, agricultural productivity has been evaluated as yield per unit of land. However, this approach is no longer sufficient given the urgency of climate change, resource limitations and environmental impacts. This policy brief redefines agricultural productivity as a multifaceted concept that extends beyond area-based yield.
