Theo joined the UFZ Leipzig in June 2018. Within his PhD thesis, Theo is searching for suitable proxies of the internal exposure of fish to pollutants using biomimetic passive sampling and subsequent chemical analysis and bioassays. Thus, he aims to find a method for the exposure and risk assessment of fish, replacing the necessity of sampling animals from the environment.
Theo studied Geoecology at the University Potsdam and Ecotoxicology at the University Koblenz-Landau. In his master thesis he researched the effects of fungicide exposure to the food sources of tadpoles and their development. Before joining the UFZ, Theo worked at the Water Technology Center Karlsruhe, developing methods for the analysis of microplastic particles in fresh water bodies.
