Kaarina Foit is geoecologist with specialization in ecotoxicology. Her research has so far focussed on:
- Toxicant effects on freshwater ecosystems in the presence of biotic interactions.
- Ecological risk assessment at landscape level using GIS and statistical approaches.
- Longterm and transgenerational effects of nanoparticles on freshwater organisms within the framework of the joint project Fe-NANOSIT.
Researcher at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ, Department System Ecotoxicology, Leipzig, Germany.
2005 – 2007
PhD student at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research – UFZ, Department System Ecotoxicology, Leipzig, Germany. Thesis “Toxicant effects on freshwater organisms in the presence of biotic interactions”.
1998 – 2004
