Research Interests

My main interests are associated to the area of ecology, microbial ecology, and conservation biology. My research has focused on how microbial communities change in time and space with the intention of using these microbial communities as indicators of biodiversity and ecosystem health.

My PhD project consists on the characterization of microbial communities associated to oaks and how these oak-associated microorganisms respond to various environmental conditions and stresses. The intention of the project is to determine an oak core microbiome and characterize key stone taxa, which enhance resilience against different applied stressors.

The project contributes to the DFG Research Unit 5571 – PhytOakmeter | subproject SP4 - Microbiome: "Cross talk between environmental conditions, oak tree performance, and the microbiomes of their soil, endo- and and phyllosphere"
