Personnel
Status
This project was part of the UFZ interdisciplinary project "Sustainable Water Management and Land Use in the Elbe River Basin".
Duration
11/2001 − 10/2004
Outline
This project investigated economic instruments in environmental policy, aiming at reconciling conflicts between economic development and the protection of groundwater, nature and landscape. Particularly, an approach to derive cost-effective water prices was elaborated, an ecological-economic modelling procedure to design effective and efficient compensation payments for the protection of species was developed, and first options for the inclusion of ecological aspects in intergovernmental fiscal relations were worked out.
