Science Policy Interface Seminar Series

 February 13th, March 11th and March 18th 2019

We are delighted to invite you all to a series of Science Policy Interface (SPI) seminars on February 13th, March 11th and March 18th 2019. This seminar series aims to emphasize within the UFZ what SPI work consists of, its role, added values and the challenges of it. The seminars will also demonstrate how, when and where to get involved at the SPI and to collect ideas on what and how to improve the SPI work of the UFZ.

The first seminar (February 13th – 9am – 12:30pm) will bring more understanding of the SPI work and for this we are very fortunate to welcome many well-known SPI experts: Roger Pielke Jr. (University of Colorado Boulder), Thomas Koetz (IPBES), Juliette Young (CEH) and Allan Watt (ALTER-Net) will be the keynote speakers for the first seminar on February 13th. A panel discussion, chaired by a professional facilitator Estelle Balian (FE-AL), will be held after the talks in which Josef Settele and Carsten Nesshoever (now SRU) will join all the keynote speakers for a lively discussion on the challenges at the Science Policy Interface.

This first seminar has raised a lot of interest among our colleagues within the ALTER-Net network , and therefore this first seminar will be live streamed in all the 25 ALTER-Net institutions.

The second seminar (March 11th) will focus on the many success stories of the SPI work at the UFZ and the last one (March 18th) will be a combination of a training on how to make research more policy relevant and the writing of a UFZ strategy for SPI work in the future. This last seminar will be facilitated by a professional trainer.

Who should attend those seminars? Everyone who would like to hear more about how research can make a difference!

Don’t forget to register below and join us on February 13th, March 11th and March 18th.
