While I was working as a researcher at an NGO after my master's, both a close friend and another professor simultaneously mentioned UFZ to me.
I was always interested in community ecology, and I was amazed by the work of my new colleagues. I also took into account the good reputation of UFZ and iDiv.
Leipzig is the longest I've lived in any European city. I appreciate its cultural and culinary diversity. The availability of various transportation modes—like bikes, trams, buses, and trains—makes it easy to explore different parts of the city. I'm particularly fond of its beers, the zoo (which reminds me of the forests back in India, with tigers and elephants evoking memories of home), football matches, and concerts. Leipzig is truly a beautiful city.
I joined UFZ/iDiv with an aim to deepen my knowledge of environmental science, particularly in species interactions. The lab here offers an ideal environment for this. With seminars, interactions with fellow researchers, conferences, and guidance from senior scientists, learning becomes an organic process.
