July 2016

How did you learn about the UFZ?

I heard about the UFZ by a couple of former study colleagues as well as from a good friend who was already doing a PhD here when I came. Before I applied, I learned more about it via the institute's website and some other websites.

Why did you come to the UFZ?

What I heard from other researchers and friends really convinced me that UFZ is one of the best places to do environmental research at. Especially for PhD students, the conditions seemed to be excellent.

What do you like about the city you live in?

Leipzig is a wonderful, dynamic and young city. It is green, has a lot of cultural offers and is affordable compared to the cities I lived in before. What I like most is that you can go everywhere by bike easily and that the lakes are so close by.

How do you like it at the UFZ / in HIGRADE?

I enjoy working here a lot and I am really happy that I have the opportunity to do my PhD here. I have great supervisors, nice colleagues and excellent equipment to work with. The HIGRADE offers are very diverse and I already had the chance to visit a couple of interesting courses.
