Steering levies as a means to implement Art. 9 EU Water Framework Directive - with contributions for improving the German wastewater levy

At UFZ since

June 2012

How did you learn about the UFZ?

In 2012 I was searching for a new occupation dealing with economic instruments to protect the environment. My sister recommended the UFZ (where her boyfriend was doing his PhD at the time). Thus I visited the website and found a job posting dealing with the German wastewater levy, which I successfully applied to.

Why did you come to the UFZ?

Since my late university years I increasingly became interested in economic instruments for protecting the environment. The UFZ offers great opportunities to do high profile research in this area with strong practical relevance.

What do you like about the city you live in?

Working at the UFZ is great! Since several years now I have had the pleasure to work among highly motivated, professional and very nice colleagues. As a UFZ-researcher you enjoy many freedoms and opportunities to improve your skills and gain new knowledge from your area of expertise and beyond. Having worked at the department of economics before starting with my PhD it was inspiring to see how economics can be thought and applied beyond the often very restrictive mainstream paradigms taught at many universities.
