Profile of HIGRADE participants
After studyng biotechnology in my home country, I was willing to do my PhD in Germany and I googled "Umweltbiotechnologie". I found a paper about it and I wrote the author (Prof. Stottmeister), who was a researcher at the UFZ. He helped me to contact people here in order to write my project and to apply for scholarship.
Because here I can combine my work with my ideals. That means to do research for the environment; for us and for the ones to come.
I like the diversity of people, I like the lakes and the forests, I like the fact that you can get everywhere by bike and the distances are not too big, so you can always meet your friends.
I really like it here, I feel very comfortable.
I am worried about the big problems of humanity like hunger and destroying the environment. I am always trying to do something about it and to be coherent with what I think, but is not always easy and the hope for a better world fluctuates in me a lot.
Aerial acrobatics, playing the guitar and singing, reading, hugging trees and sometimes also people.
