Liverpool / Great Britain
Liverpool grew rapidly in the 19th Century and reached the peak of its importance in the early years of the 20th Century with a population of over 800.000 peoples. After this, the city experienced a long-term decline and the population of the city has fallen to around 440,000. Since the 1970ies Liverpool has been the site of numerous “urban regeneration”-programmes that aimed on encouraging economic development and the re-use of urban land.
