Here you can gain an insight into the concentrations of pesticide active substances measured in 2018 and 2019 in the small agricultural streams investigated. A distinction is made between regularly taken grab samples and samples automatically taken after rainfall (event-driven sampling, EDS).

The measured concentrations can be compared with own measurements and thresholds* for pesticide active substances in surface waters valid during the monitoring period.

 *The considered thresholds are
  • Field-based Acceptable Concentrations (ACfield): The threshold for maximum concentrations of primarily invertebrate-toxic pesticides derived on the basis of the Kleingewässermonitorng data collected here (Liess et al. 2021)
  • Regulatory Acceptable Concentrations (RAC): The threshold for maximum concentrations derived by the German Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt - UBA) within the framework of plant protection product authorisation - see Methods/Analysed Substances
  • Annual Average-Environmental Quality Standards (AA-EQS): The threshold for acceptable annual average concentrations according to the Water Framework Directive (list of priority substances and river basin-specific pollutants)
  • Maximum Acceptable Concentration-Environmental Quality Standards (MAC-EQS): The threshold for maximum concentrations under the Water Framework Directive (list of river basin-specific pollutants)
