BirdTwin as the technical and data-driven foundation of the TripleBird project

  • integrates bird monitoring and environmental data from various sources into a robust scientific infrastructure
  • provides a continuously updated picture of bird diversity
  • provides standardised interfaces for analysis, scenarios and applications
  • forms the basis for model-based scenario development (BirdFutures) and applications (BirdBusiness)

The main objective

of the project is to provide the technical infrastructure that enables the operationalisation of modelling processes (BirdFutures) by transforming them from individually conducted analyses into a standardised, reproducible and scalable system, accessible independently of individual users or local working environments.

First iteration

Furthermore, in its first iteration, BirdTwin provides a bird diversity monitor for Germany that is presented in a way that is accessible to the general public. Based on nine species, it uses time series (2005 to 2025) and maps to clearly illustrate spatial and temporal trends, including declines, stability and hotspots.
