Center for Advanced Water Research (CAWR)

CAWR: Two institutions join forces in a cluster

The Center for Advanced Water Research (CAWR) brings together the water competences of the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ and the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD). The highly qualified scientists are jointly tackling some of the key challenges in the water sector in a breadth of research topics that is outstanding and at the same time with a profound disciplinary expertise.

Our mission: "Safe water for humans and the environment"

Water in a good quality and adequate quantity is a fundamental basis of life for humankind and the environment. In many global challenges, such as food or energy security, human health and ecosystems, flood defence and droughts or the provision of drinking water and sanitation systems, water is becoming a very critical element for a sustainable society in Germany, in Europe and worldwide.

The CAWR focuses its work on the fields of:

Call for participants: International Summer School 2017

From August, 04th - 18th, 2017 CAWR will host the international summer school on the topic "Network functional dynamics - Technological, Human & Ecological Dimensions". This workshop aims to strengthen the interdisciplinary thinking on complex networks and will be organized by CAWR scientists together with international scientists. During the summer school, young and senior scientists are going to investigate functional dynamics of complex networks of different types, how they interconnect in different settings and the impacts of e.g. disruptions on existing networks. Applications by interested young scientists can be submitted until April, 30th 2017. More information concerning your application here »
