Agrochemicals and the Risk of Schistosomiasis

Pesticides and environmental conditions may affect the infectivity of Schistosoma by supporting higher densities of intermediate hosts “freshwater snails”.

In the first project "SENTINEL-l", we identified the environmental factors (including pesticides) that are relevant to describe the occurrence of the host snails and their link with risk of human schistosomiasis.

In the follow up project “SENTINEL-II” we want to further understand the environmental factors that are relevant for describing the infection of snails.
