Silva Med and FAO back-to-back events
The Working Group on Urban Forestry of Silva Mediterranea and FAO are organizing two back-to-back meetings before the EFUF 2012 conference as follows:
1. Urban and Periurban Forestry in Mediterranean Countries
May 8, 2012, 13:30 to 15:30 hours
Location: 
Leipziger KUBUS, Lecture Hall 2
The meeting is a follow up of the workshop MEDWAYS held in Florence, 16 and 17 December 2011.
It will be also the 1st meeting of the Working Group on Urban and Priurban forestry as approved by the Commission of Silva Med, Antalya, 2-3 February 2012 and is co-lead by Italy and Turkey, with support of FAO.
Three topics will be discussed:
- a. Launching the new Working Group (WG7) on Urban and Periurban Forestry of Silva Mediterranea (Programme and Modalities of work based on collaborative partnership)
- b. Preparation of the "Chapter on Urban and Periurban Forests" for the State of the Mediterranean Forests (SOFM)
- c. Regional Guidelines on UPF for decision maker
2. Global issues and Urban and Periurban Forestry Voluntary Guidelines
May 8, 2012, 16:00 to 18:30 hours
Location: Leipziger KUBUS, Lecture Hall 2
The meeting is needed to update the preparation of the UPF voluntary Guidelines led by FAO.
Topics to be discussed:
a. UPF Guidelines
i. Revised Global version: "Towards Guidelines for Policy and Decision Making Promoting Urban and Peri-urban Forestry"
ii. State of the Regional Guidelines (Asia & Pacific; Maghreb and French Speaking Africa)
iii. Input, route forward and contributions for the finalization of these Guidelines
b. Global Issues
i. Glossary "100 words on UPF"
ii. Other matters (e.g. World Urban Forum, Naples, 1-7 Sept. 2012; etc.)
