The following scientific results and technical milestones are expected during the successful completion of carboxAiD project:
• Identification of raw material availabilities, potential markets and conversion paths for utilization of the platform chemicals in LatinAmerica and Europe.
• Transfer of knowledge between European and LatinAmerican countries regarding carboxylate platform chemicals production.
• Screening of various agricultural wastes regarding carboxylate production in Europe and description of the obtained VFA spectra.
• Screening of agricultural wastes regarding carboxylate production in LatinAmerica and description of the obtained VFA spectra.
• Milestone: Most promising substrates and optimal process parameters for carboxylate production are described.
• Development of continuous processes for carboxylate production from few selected substrates. Milestone: Process parameters of a stable fermentation process are defined.
• Determination of the methane potential of the fermentation residues. Milestone: Remaining potential for energetic utilization is calculated.
• Development and testing of a bioaugmentation strategy based on the utilization of gutderived microorganisms for the enhancement of the fermentation bioprocess.
