I am an ecologist seeking to understand how communities are shaped under environmental change through species interactions and evolutionary dynamics. My work is focused primarily on predator – prey/ host – pathogen interactions and co-evolution across spatial and temporal scales. I have been addressing questions on how interactions and adaptation affect coexistence mechanisms, diversity and stability of communities under various temperature, nutrient availability and disturbance regimes.
I use assembled microcosms (consisting of bacteria, protozoa and phages), semi-natural freshwater and soil microbes (also fungi and plants) to address my questions and combine my experiments with modelling and advanced statistical approaches.
Currently I am trying to understand evolutionary rescue of species in complex communities consist of competitors, predators and stressors using bacteria-virus pair, assembled communities and antibiotics.
