Elements of Ecosystem Integrity

The framework of Ecosystem Integrity (EI) is based on structures (biotic diversity and abiotic heterogeneity) and processes (focusing on energy, water and matter budgets). The table expands from elements of EI to indicators and examples for parameters related to the the mentioned higher levels. The figure at the bottom illustrates the components and their interactions in the EI framework.
