Research interests
Currently I'm a PostDoc at the university of Fribourg (CH) in the group of Sven Bacher, working for the Eu-project Pratique. Whereas, I try to find traits across different taxa, which could favour species, having an high ecological impact on native species and/or ecosystems and animals.
Actually I'm a zoological taxonomist in macroecologists clothing with a species invasion cap who worked the last years also with plants and just started to increase the animal percentage again. :O)
My main research areas are macroecology, invasion biology and species distribution and diversity pattern. Interesting but rather technical aspects of my work are database programming, combining species inventories (data mining) and monitoring schemes. I was involved in the European project DAISIE and since my diploma time I'm still interested in the ecology and distribution of the North American raccoon (P. lotor).
However, some interesting aspects I'm particularly interested in, is the influence of introductions and extinctions and their effect on taxonomical, functional and phylogenetical diversities at different scales.
