Jeanette Schlief

Research interests

I am an ecologist with a current main focus on science management. I am interested in the prediction of the evolution of ecosystems in the context of global change and in the derivation of measures to prevent harmful effects or remediate degraded ecosystems.

Throughout my academic career, I have studied the effects of mining activities, urbanization and climate change on organisms and processes related to the decomposition of organic matter (as a measure of ecosystem integrity) in aquatic and semi-aquatic ecosystems. Later, I was involved in the management of an interdisciplinary joint project, which dealt with nutrient pollution of lakes and rivers and examined whether nitrogen reduction in freshwaters is ecologically meaningful and economically feasible.

Currently, I work as project manager in the Advance_eLTER project, which is part of the design phase of the research infrastructure eLTER RI. In collaboration with an international team, I support the decisive step to include the eLTER RI in the ESFRI Roadmap and to begin its implementation.
