Biological Calorimetry

XVII International Society of Biological Calorimetry (ISBC) Conference

3 - 6 June 2012, Leipzig, Germany

INVITATION

Dear Colleagues,

The ISBC Committee as well as the Local Organizing Committee of the

XVII International Society of Biological Calorimetry (ISBC) Conference

cordially invites all persons interested in any field of biological calorimetry and biothermodynamics to contribute and participate in the conference to be held in Leipzig, Germany, June 3rd – June 6th, 2012. The conference intends to bring together international experts on calorimetry and biothermodynamics. The ISBC conference aims to improve our understanding of the energetics of biomolecular reactions, cells, microorganisms, and even metabolic networks or ecosystems, and to stimulate future collaborative research in the field.
The preliminary program covers all applications of calorimetry and thermodynamics in the life sciences, ranging from the academic to the engineering point of view. Topics will be:

  • Biotechnology
  • Environmental sciences
  • Biomolecules
  • Ecosystems and sustainability
  • Health sciences

Beyond the pure practical side of calorimetry the conference will additionally focus on new developments in calorimetric instrumentations and biothermodynamic theory. Furthermore, there will also be room to discuss newly emerging research fields such as photosynthetic energy conservation or thermodynamics in system biology.
Please feel free to suggest additional topics. The expected number of participants is around 100. The conference will be held in the modern conference hall (KUBUS) of the UFZ.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to Leipzig.

Thomas Maskow (Convenor) and the Organizing Committee
