Arbuscular Mycorrhiza
Below-ground habitat of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi: Although this model contains by far less root systems than typically present below ground, it gives an impression of the complexity arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi have to face. The fungi can engage in symbioses with most of the root systems they encounter and in most cases each fungus will be connected to several root systems and each root system to several fungi.
