Research interests

My work focuses on the characterisation of structure-function relationships in natural microbial communities, especially contaminated aquifers. Current research is centered around the identification of key players (single organisms or syntrophic consortia) involved in the degradation of BTEX-compounds under anaerobic conditions, using cultivation dependent and cultivation independent methods.
