Effect of organic and mineral fertilization on yield and quality of crops as well as soil fertility.
The Static Fertilizer Experiment Bad Lauchstaedt was initiated by Schneidewind and Gröbler in 1902. It consists of 18 treatments on 4 stripes. The 4 stripes make shure that each crop is grown every year. The crop rotation is winter wheat, potatoes, spring barley and sugar beets. Each stripe has two equal parts. So alltogether the experiments has 8 parts - and 4 of them belong to the main series that is reportetd here.

general site description
The experimental field is situaed on the edge of a geological formation named "Querfurter Platte". It belongs to the chernozem area of Saxony -Anhalt whicht is part of a belt of loess soil situated in the south- east of the Harz Mountains in Middle Germany. The groundwater level is abaout 12 m. The parent material for soil formation is loess. The region is characterized by an average annual precipitation of about 500 mm and an average annual temperature of about 9 øC. The distribution of of the annual precipitation shows clear maximum from June to August. Very little precipitation in winter often causes bare frosts.
