Postdoctoral scientist Dr. David Leuthold was an invited speaker at the 2022 Society of Toxicology (SOT) Annual Meeting in San Diego, CA, USA (March 27-31) in a Symposium Session titled “New Approach Methods (NAMs) for functional developmental neurotoxicity (DNT)”. Dr. Leuthold’s research, on the development and application of a novel battery of automated behavior assays that specifically detect chemical effects on learning and memory outcomes in zebrafish, was recognized with five research awards from various specialty sections within the Society.
Molecular and Systems Biology Specialty Section Postdoctoral Scholar Research Award - 1st place.
Neurotoxicology Specialty Section Toshio Narahashi Best Postdoctoral Poster Presentation Award - 2nd place.
Mechanisms Specialty Section Gabriel L. Plaa Education Award - 2nd place.
Neurotoxicology Specialty Section Toshio Narahashi Best Postdoctoral Abstract Award - 1st place.
Mechanisms Specialty Section Sheldon D. Murphy Postdoctoral Endowment Award - 1st place.
Congratulations to David!!!
The goal of PrecisionTox is to improve chemical safety assessment to better protect human health and the environment by using non-traditional test species, multiple fields of knowledge, and powerful computational approaches to understand which chemicals are toxic and why.
DaNa4.0 is a science communication project dealing with the safety of innovative materials. Complex, toxicological issues from current materials research are presented in a generally understandable way for non-scientists (interested consumers, journalists, politicians, NGOs, etc.) on a website.
PlasticsFatE - Plastics Fate and Effects in the human body aims at improving our present understanding of the impact of micro- and nano-plastics (MP/NP) and associated additives/adsorbed contaminants (A/C) in the human body. To do so, reliable and validated methods will be developed that are able to generate the science-based data we need. PlasticsFatE is a 48-month project funded by the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme of the European Union. The project will run from 1st April 2021 to 31st March 2025.
