Business Controlling


The Staff Unit Business Controlling (BCO) regards its main responsibilities as strategic, medium-term and operational financial planning and control in the context of programme-based funding, providing decision support to the executive management on financial issues as well as coordinating internal and external business management reporting for the UFZ.

Its range of services includes:

  • Financial planning and accounting for scientific programmes and strategic investments
  • Financial planning and controlling for research with institutional funding – from drawing up a business plan, budgeting to the presentation and balancing of the annual financial statements
  • Planning and monitoring the UFZ’s liquidity
  • Handling budget transfers during the year
  • Management accounting for the costing and controlling of research and other services on a cost basis
  • Financial master data management
  • Business reporting to internal and external customers
