Abstract | A GC-MS method for the identification and determination of volatile sulfur compounds (sulfides, polysulfides and thiols) in highly polluted water samples based on membrane extraction in combination with sorption on Ag2S and thermodesorption is presented. Detection limits between 0.01 and 2.4 mug/L were obtained for the various species. The relative process standard deviations were found to be between 1.5 and 8.2 %. The influence of halogenated hydrocarbons on the determination of sulfur compound was investigated. The method was compared by using Tenax as adsorbent. |
