Abstract

The role of plant peroxidases and cytochrome P450 in PCB transformation in several in vitro cultures of different plant species was followed using inhibitors and inducers of these systems. The results have proved the important role of peroxidases.

We also attempted to find lignin peroxidase and manganese dependent peroxidase in plant cells.

As main products of PCB transformation in plants hydroxychlorobiphenyl derivatives were detected. Products with more simple structures were identified, too. Enzymatic reactions using commercial horseradish peroxidase and plant peroxidase isolated from Solanum nigrum were carried out to compare the products with those formed by whole cells.
