Abstract | Importance of disturbance and management for the persistence of butterfly and moth populations in a modelling context Many butterflies and moths are endangered by the current landscape changes. To determine the viability of Lepidoptera populations a model has been developed considering generally important life history features. It serves for identifying decisive factors for long term survival and gives hints for management strategies. As an example effects of different disturbance regimes on the persistence of a hypothetical, but nevertheless realistic butterfly population are investigated. The relevance for management strategies is discussed. |
