| Abstract | The national competition of "Bioenergy Regions" run by the Federal Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, supports 25 regions for a period of three years in the effort to extend their bioenergy activities. Through analyzing the techno-economic aspects of the regional activities, the Deutsche Biomasseforschungszentrum developed a combination of methods to measure the regional bioenergy development and their consequences on the regional economy. Therefore network-based regional material flows are analyzed to quantify the regional production of substrate and energy. Another step was the qualitative analysis of value added chains. Furthermore an online indicator-tool was developed to establish a consistent possibility to illustrate and compare the regional progress. |
