Curriculum Vitae 

Floriane Larras studied aquatic ecology in France and in Canada. She received a master thesis diploma for her work on the “use of the macrophyte Elodea nuttallii for heavy metals risk assessment and for mercury biomonitoring”, carried out at the Forel institute (Geneva, Switzerland). She did her PhD studies at the hydrobiological station of INRA (French National Institute of Agronomic Research) at Thonon-Les-Bains (France) where she explored the response of benthic diatoms to a set of herbicides under various biological and chemical complexity levels. This work also investigated the reliability of the Species Sensitivity Distribution approach to protect environmental communities of microalgae.

During her post-doc position at the University of Lorraine (France), she developed traits based (benthic diatoms and benthic macroinvertebrates) Conditional Tree Forest models aiming to identify pressures occurring in streams. Such models highlighted the ecological degradation/restoration of reaches even under a multi-stress context, in order to support stream managers decision making.

In October 2016, she joined the Department of Bioanalytical Ecotoxicology at the UFZ Leipzig. She is involved in the MicroERA project (Ecological Sensitivity Distribution (ESD): integrating molecular-based structural and functional microbial community responses in a new tool for environmental risk assessment of chemicals). This project aims to (1) characterize the response of aquatic microbial communities to specific chemicals at various biological organization levels, (2) establish links between structural and functional endpoints and (3) improve the ecological representativity of risk assessment approaches in order to better protect environmental communities and the functions that they ensure.
