  • Assessment of Nitrogen surplus at regional scale
  • Long-term effect of the nitrate dynamics of the Nitrogen legacy stores
  • Analysis of different constituents of the Nitrogen surplus
  • Surface water quality modelling at regional and global scale

Academic career

Since 09/2020:  PhD. researcher at UFZ, Leipzig, Germany - Global Water Quality and Analysis project (GlobeWQ)

01/2019 - 09/2019 : Research Assistant at Wageningen University and Research Center (WUR), Wageningen, Netherlands - International Nitrogen Management System project (INMS)

09/2016 - 09/2018 : MSc Environmental Sciences at Wageningen University and Research Center (WUR), Wageningen, Netherlands (Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) scholarship holder) - Master thesis " River export of multiple pollutants to the Bay of Bengal at sub-basin scale: Past, present and future trends"

09/2011 - 09/2015 : BS Environmental Sciences at University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan

Projects

GlobeWQ : I am pursuing my PhD within GlobeWQ project. Our aims within the scope of project are to understand the long-term trajectory of the different constituents of the Nitrogen surplus at regional scale and to study the long-term effect of the dynamics of the Nitrogen legacy stores on stream nitrate levels. We also focus on disentangling different N-components (like diffuse vs. non- diffuse sources) and their changing dynamics across European River systems.

INMS : I contributed to INMS (International Nitrogen Management System) project as Research Assistant at WUR, the Netherlands. The project aims to bring together the science community, the private sector and civil society to gather and synthesize evidence that can support international policy development to improve global nitrogen management. Within the project, I was mainly responsible for in-depth research on global nitrogen inputs to land from diffuse sources (For example, mineral fertilizer, animal manure etc), preparing and processing large spatial datasets for soft coupling of global nutrients (MARINA model), land use (MAgPIE model) and hydro-logical (VIC model ) models
