Particulate emissions from road transport

Straße

Rapidly increasing traffic volume has led to an increase in contaminated road runoff, not only in urban areas. Road runoffs are an important pathway for anthropogenic nanoparticles (ANPs) to the environment. One of the major concerns regarding risk assessment of ANPs is the environmental fate and behavior. For this purpose analytical techniques need to be enhanced which allows identification, characterization, and quantification of ANPs in different environmental compartments.
The aim of this project is to develop analytical methods i) to extract the particulate fraction from highway runoffs and ii) to characterize and quantify ANPs in highway runoffs using FFF-MALS-ICP-MS and sp-ICP-MS.
