Paul Schulz

Paul joined the Department of Effect-Directed Analysis as a researcher in May 2023. He conducts research on the uptake and elimination kinetics of pollutants in gammarids, which serve as indicator organisms for the ecological status of water bodies. The goal is to examine the extent to which gammarids can serve as indicators of short-term loading peaks of pollutants in water bodies, and thus whether chemical analysis of gammarids adds value to stream monitoring.

In addition, Paul is working on the detection and assessment of water pollution with organic trace substances in the Elbe catchment.

Paul studied food chemistry at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. He completed his diploma thesis on the residue analysis of pollutants in gammarids from German streams in the Department of Effect-Directed Analysis.
