Lili Niu

Lili Niu was awarded a Humboldt Research Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers and joined the Department of Cell Toxicology at UFZ Leipzig in May 2019. Her project is about the worldwide mapping of organic contaminants in sediments using an integrated toxicological-chemical approach. The aim is to establish the linkage between the chemical mixture exposure, especially the exposure from the bioavailable fractions, with human health and ecological adverse effects.

Before coming to UFZ, Lili Niu completed her PhD in Environmental Science at Zhejiang University, China and then went on working as a postdoctoral researcher there. Subsequently, she worked as an associate researcher in Hangzhou Normal University, China. Her previous research focused on the residue characteristics and human health risks of persistent toxic substances in soils and the air.
