Research Interests

  • Stable isotope (13C, 15N) labeling and observation (NanoSIMS) of microbes
  • Big Omic datasets analysis: 16S/18S, ITS, metagenome, metatranscriptome
  • Effects of climate changes on soil microbial community structure and function
  • New ammonia-oxidising archaea (AOA) MAGs assembly and enrichment
  • Bioinformatics, High-performance computing (HPC)

Research Projects

DiscoMole and iSBio

In this project, we want to explore the relationship between microbial diversity and functions in global soil samples from iSBio Consortium.A total 314 soil metagenomic samples were collected by global soil scientists.

Global Change Experimental Facility (GCEF)

In this project, we want to understand the effects of climate change and land use on soil microbial diversity and function at the GCEF platform. A total of 180 soil metagenomic samples were collected across 2014-2019 summers.

Techniques

  • Isotope labeling methods: 13CO2 and 15N2, stable isotope probing (SIP)
  • Multi-omics approach: 16S/18S, ITS, metagenome, metatranscriptome
  • Mass spectrometry analysis: NanoSIMS, IRMS
  • Bioinformatician: R, Linux, Bash, Perl, Awk, Sed, High-performance computing (HPC)...
