CONSOIL

CONSOIL is a global conference on the management of soil, groundwater and sediment.
The conference covers a multitude of topics such as restoration, environmental footprint, remediation, cold/heat storage, geothermal energy, water storage, soil-water systems, groundwater quality etc. It is held every 2 years.CONSOIL is the leading platform to exchange news and knowledge between scientists, policy makers, consultants / service providers, administrators, site owners / river basin managers, remediation companies / contractors and banking and insurance companies.
At CONSOIL 2008 and 2010 we initiated a special session.

CONSOIL 2008
(June 3 -6, 2008 in Salzburg, Austria)

Special Session "Digital Soil Mapping and the implementation of Soil Thematic Strategy"

  • INTERACTIONS BETWEEN SOIL RELATED SCIENCES – LINKING GEOPHYSICS, SOIL SCIENCE AND DIGITAL SOIL MAPPING; Ulrike Werban, Thorsten Behrens, Giorgio Cassiani, Uta Sauer, Peter Dietrich
  • METHODS AND APPLICATIONS IN DIGITAL SOIL MAPPING; Thorsten Behrens
  • SOIL PARAMETERS AND GEOPHYSICAL PARAMETERS-APPLICATION OF MULTI-PARAMETER CONSTITUTIVE LAWS, Giorgio Cassiani
  • PEDOTRANSFERFUNCTIONS AND HYDROPEDOLOGY, Steffen Zacharias

CONSOIL 2010
(September 22-25, 2010 in Salzburg, Austria)

iSOIL organized a special session at CONSOIL 2010” Novel approaches for the integration of monitoring data into mapping” and submitted an extended abstract for the conference proceedings. Apart from an introduction of the Soil Technology Research Cluster following presentations were given:

  • DIGISOIL: a geophysical multi-sensor acquisition and processing system for mapping soil properties (Gilles Grandjean, Digisoil)
  • iSOIL - Interactions between soil related sciences – Linking geophysics, soil science and digital soil mapping (Peter Dietrich)
  • Magnetism of soils and sediments as a tool for estimation of soil erosion and heavy metal pollution – case studies (Diana Jordanova)
  • Cross-scale application and validation of a combined geophysical and pedometrical approach for digital soil mapping (Leonardo van Straaten)

European Geosciences Union - EGU

The EGU General Assembly brings together geoscientists from all over the world into one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, Planetary and Space Sciences every year. In 2008 we held an oral presentation about Interactions between Soil related Sciences: Linking Geophysics, Soil Science and Digital Soil Mapping Sauer, U.; Werban, U.; Behrens, T.; Cassiani, G.; Boruvka, L.; Carizzoni, M.; Dietrich, P. Starting in 2010 we established a special session “Digital soil mapping: novel approaches (including geophysical measurements) to the prediction of key soil properties for modelling physical processes”and there will be also a special session in 2012.
