iSOIL - Interactions between soil related sciences -
Linking geophysics, soil science and digital soil mapping

WP 2: Emerging and monitoring technologies

Lead Partner: UB

Work Package 2

The project also focused on emerging techniques that could be implemented into soil mapping. These techniques include acoustics/seismic waves, visible and near infrared spectroscopy (VNIRS) and spectrally induced polarization. The potential and restrictions of these techniques for soil mapping using mobile platforms were shown. It also gave a new direction in the field of soil mapping research and outlined where we should go in the near future, to provide tools for rapid and reliable mapping of other soil proxies (in addition to proxies gained by already available geophysical methods for soil mapping).
