Research Interests
I am interested in biodiversity and the challenges posed by anthropogenic change. I try to engage the public, especially children, in my research through citizen science projects in order to increase scientific literacy and nature relatedness. My core research focuses on the effect of urbanization and climate change on invertebrate communities. In collaboration with schools in Halle, Leipzig and Berlin, I use space-for-time pitfall experiments to understand how future invertebrate communities will be affected by increasing temperatures and urbanisation. This project is supported by the Carlsberg Foundation.
