Research Interests

I am a computational ecologist trying to understand how farming practices and biodiversity influence each other. The aim of my research is to identify conservation measures that are good for nature and good for farmers. Specifically, I look at how different measures provided for by the EU's Common Agricultural Policy affect biodiversity and ecosystem services at a landscape scale. I use individual-based modelling to explore the complex ecological interrelationships inherent in this question, but also work closely with farmers, sociologists and economists to make sure my work is relevant to the people it most concerns.
