Scientific interest

Dr. Yves Zinngrebe investigates steering options for a sustainable human interaction with biodiversity and nature (governance of biodiversity and nature conservation). He has a special interest for options and strategies for transformative governance and integrative policy making.

In his work on biodiversity governance in Peru he analysed political discourses, biodiversity policy integration, and local land-use governance in the Amazon region. Another focus is the analysis of impacts of the EU Common agricultural policy. His special interest is the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and its national implementation. In this regard, Yves Zinngrebe ist leading the scientific projects supporting the updating process of the German National Biodiversity Strategy. At the same time, he studies the implementation of biodiversity targets through"Trees on Farms" in Peru, Honduras, Uganda, Rwanda and Indonesien. He is leading a UFZ internal project on "Telecoupling Governance" and the Earth System Governance Task Force on Governance of Nature and Biodiversity. Yves Zinngrebe is further Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) for the global report on transformative change by the Intergovernmental Platform for Biodiersity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).
